So this summer I'm interning at Strawbery Bank Museum (SBM) And I'm helping to run the Jr.Roleplayers day camp. Things are going swimmingly, even if the camp is a tad disorganized... Three weeks of prep and you would swear by the amount of schedule changes that we were just making it up as we go! Most of the campers are in the age range of 12-14 with a few odd balls on the older side (they range in age up to 16) This causes camp to sometimes feel like an episode of kids say the darndest things... Travis, a boy of fourteen informed a fellow camper during a roleplaying activity that his character William Stavers would routinely share a bed with 5 or 6 travelers who would pass through the tavern. Of course he was confused and MEANT to say something along the lines that he would have to share a bed with his sisters OR that sometimes the patrons of the tavern would have to share a bed... but nonetheless his response as well as his joy at being able to share the information was pretty priceless.
Also, checked out one of the free summer concerts at Prescott Park tonight... It was a very good deal and I would highly recommend going to see a show.
Random: But this whole electronic "blogging" is quite novel to me... honestly you would think I was born in the 1800's with my lack of ability with technology... But hey! Why not publish your journal online... all the better to share my pertinent, every interesting thoughts with the world! (I hope teh interw3bz can pick up my sarcasm) :P
Anyway stay classy. I'm off to write a lesson plan on maritime history It's super serious in nature so far with my attempts to tie John Paul Jones the Led Zeppelin bassist into my presentation- of course playing off of the famous sea captain by the same name... then again the joke might be just for my own personal gratification as it will probably go over the heads of most 12 year olds... A girl can hope can't she!
Until the next time boredom, I mean inspiration strikes,
-Rachel
